This is how to stop a running service temporarily:<\/p>\n
# systemctl stop servicename.service<\/p>\n
This stops it from starting at boot, but does not stop a running service:<\/p>\n
# systemctl disable servicename.service<\/p>\n
That also prevents it from being started by anything else, such as plugging in some hardware, or by socket or bus activation<\/p>\n
There is one way to stop a service for good without uninstalling it, and that is by linking it to \/dev\/null:<\/p>\n
\u2028\u2028# ln -s \/dev\/null \/etc\/systemd\/system\/servicename.service\u2028# systemctl daemon-reload<\/p>\n
